The wife of Nigeria’s ailing president, Muhammadu Buhari, will visit him in London this week, despite saying last month that he was recovering quickly and would soon be back home.

Aisha Buhari left Nigeria on Sunday and will arrive in the U.K. on Tuesday, after attending an HIV-AIDS conference in Ethiopia, her spokesman said in a statement late Sunday.

The 74-year-old president has been in London since May 7 for treatment of an undisclosed illness, fueling concern about his ability to see through the rest of his term that ends in 2019. His wife said in early June, when she last visited him, that he was preparing to return to Nigeria after making a quick recovery.

“She will convey to the president the best wishes of Nigerians and their fervent prayers for his quick recovery,” according to the statement.
