Centrica Sells U.K. Gas-Fired Power Stations to Czech Producer

Centrica Plc agreed to sell two power stations burning natural gas to Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding AS as the U.K.’s biggest supplier of energy to homes focuses investments on its customer business.

The Windsor, England-based company will sell its Langage and South Humber Bank facilities for 318 million pounds ($401 million) in cash, Centrica said Wednesday in a statement. The plants have a combined capacity of 2.3 gigawatts. EPH already owns the Eggborough and Lynemouth power stations in the U.K.

The transaction is subject to merger clearance by the European Union and is expected to complete during the second half of this year.
