Container Ship En Route to Tokyo When It Collided With Destroyer

The Philippine-flagged container ship ACX Crystal was en route from Nagoya to Tokyo when it collided with the USS Fitzgerald, a U.S. Navy destroyer, early Saturday. Based on IHS Maritime data and Bloomberg vessel tracking, it appears the vessels collided northwest of Izu Oshima island off the coast of Japan in the Philippine Sea. The ACX Crystal is now moored at port in Tokyo Bay. Seven Navy sailors are missing after the accident and three are being treated for injuries.
