Spanish exports hit a new high in 2016 as companies continued their international expansion triggered by an unprecedented economic crisis at home. Total exports jumped to a record 255 billion euros ($269 billion), marking the seventh year of expansion and narrowing the nation’s trade deficit to a three-year low. The increase was led by exports across euro-area nations while sales to Latin America and the Middle East declined.
