As retailers gear up for the holiday shopping season, concerns about “loss prevention” -- more commonly known as theft -- are never far from their minds. U.S. stores suffer the highest rate of theft as a percentage of total sales among the world’s biggest retail markets, while British and French retailers are the least susceptible. The most-coveted items? In the U.S. it’s electronic gadgets and toys, in the U.K. it’s food and booze, while in China, apparel and cosmetics are most commonly snatched.
