The leu saw its steepest weekly slide in more than three years on concern a planned loan-conversion law will hurt Romania’s economy. The draft bill could force lenders to switch Swiss-franc loans into leu in what ING Groep NV and Societe Generale SA called a populist maneuver in the run-up to December’s general elections. The currency fell to the lowest since July on Friday, erasing most of 2016’s gains and posting the second-biggest weekly drop among emerging-market currencies tracked by Bloomberg.
