Long Lunch Is for Wimps in EU’s Most Competitive Nation: Chart

If lunch really is for wimps, then the Dutch could be the ones to prove it. Dutch people eat their midday meal more quickly than most of their neighbors -- taking just 26 minutes to eat a typical boterham met kaas (that’s a cheese sandwich to you), a Compass Group survey found. Whether there’s a connection between a shorter lunch and the Netherlands surpassing Germany as the EU’s most competitive nation this year in a World Economic Forum survey might just be something for the country’s more ruminant rivals to chew on.
