Netherlands Resumes Benin Water Program With $10 Million Deal

The Netherlands resumed a drinking-water program with Benin after the two countries signed a 6-billion CAF franc ($10 million) funding agreement.

The money will be used to bring potable water to 21 municipalities in the West African country, the Netherlands Embassy said in an e-mailed statement on Friday.

“This agreement marks the effective resumption of our bilateral program with Benin in the water sector,” the embassy said. The Netherlands halted aid to the country last year after about 3 billion francs went missing.
