Benoit Hamon Says He Will Be Candidate in French 2017 Election

Benoit Hamon, a former education minister in French President Francois Hollande’s government, said he will be a candidate for the 2017 presidential vote.

*Speaking in an interview on France 2 televsion, Hamon said he will run against Hollande in the Socialist Party primary. * “We can’t close our eyes in the name of loyalty,” said Hamon, who wants the Socialists to go back to their traditional left-wing roots. * “We need to need to reduce the work week,” he said.
