Mark Taborsky, who managed multi-asset portfolios for BlackRock Inc.’s institutional clients in the U.S., has left to start his own investment firm.

Taborsky started MarkerTree Capital to invest on behalf of institutions in deals alongside hedge funds and private equity firms, according to his LinkedIn profile. Taborsky left BlackRock in June, the profile said.

Taborsky went to BlackRock in 2011 as a senior portfolio manager, filling a newly-created role which involved developing and managing investments across strategies and asset classes for U.S. fiduciary clients. He joined BlackRock from Pacific Investment Management Co., where he led the build out of a liquid asset allocation fund. Prior to Pimco, he oversaw external managers at Harvard University’s endowment.

Taborsky declined to comment. BlackRock didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
