Danske Bank Hires Tine Choi as Chief Strategist at Wealth Unit

Danske Bank A/S has hired Tine Choi from its biggest rival, Nordea Bank AB, as chief strategist for its new wealth unit.

Choi, 43, will start Nov. 1, the Copenhagen-based bank said in a statement on Tuesday. She is currently senior strategist at Nordea and has previously worked at Sydbank A/S and Nykredit A/S, Danske said.

Danske created a $200 billion wealth unit this year after merging businesses including its pension arm. In June, Danske hired Henrik Gade Jepsen from ATP, the largest Danish pension fund, to oversee asset management at the wealth unit.

Choi is an “experienced” hire, who will be tasked with helping Danske achieve its goal of creating a “more client focused organization,” the unit’s head of advisory services, Thomas Muchitsch, said in a statement.

Chief Executive Officer Thomas F. Borgen has underscored his commitment to wealth management as Danske’s home market struggles to increase revenue in a region plagued by negative interest rates. Denmark’s central bank has kept its main rate below zero for the better part of four years.
