Strong U.K. Growth Performance Masks Pre-Brexit Slowdown: ChartBy
Britain has April to thank for a stronger-than-forecast economic performance in the second quarter. Services output stagnated over the following two months and industrial production and construction declined, suggesting activity was weakening before the June 23 Brexit referendum. Economists expect gross domestic product to fall this quarter and next after the decision to leave the European Union hit consumer and business confidence.
