William Hill Chief Henderson Quits as U.K. Bookmaker Struggles

William Hill Plc Chief Executive Officer James Henderson quit suddenly, the latest setback to befall Britain’s biggest bookmaker.

Henderson is leaving with immediate effect and will be replaced on an interim basis by Chief Financial Officer Philip Bowcock, William Hill said in a statement Thursday. A search for a permanent replacement is underway.

Henderson is leaving as William Hill shares near a four-year low. The bookmaker said in March that profit for the year would miss analysts’ estimates, weighed down by an acceleration in the number of accounts being suspended at the bettor’s request.
