U.S. Charges Owner of Most-Visited Illegal File-Sharing Website

The owner of what the U.S. government calls the “most-visited” illegal file-sharing website was charged with copyright infringement.

Ukrainian Artem Vaulin was arrested in Poland and the U.S. will seek to extradite him, federal prosecutors in Chicago said in a statement.

The government identified Vaulin as the owner of Kickass Torrents, which prosecutors said has allowed users to distribute copies of films, musical recordings, video games and other copyrighted material worth more than $1 billion.
