Senegal’s Sall Pardons Jailed Son of Ex-President, Seneweb Says

Senegalese President Macky Sall pardoned the son of his predecessor who’d been given a six-year prison sentence last year for economic crimes committed when he was a government minister, Seneweb reported, citing a presidential decree.

Karim Wade was released from prison immediately and seen travelling to the airport, the Dakar-based website reported Friday. Karim Wade had held four ministerial portfolios under his father, Abdoulaye Wade, who served as president of the West African nation from 2000 to 2012.
