Tokyo Share Volume Tumbles as Investors Await Brexit Vote: Chart

Japanese traders have been stepping away from the market in the days leading up to the Brexit vote. The number of shares traded on the Topix index slumped this week to the fourth-lowest level of the year while the 30-day moving average for volume on the gauge reached the least since December 2012. The Topix has lost 5.9 percent this month, while the U.K.’s FTSE 100 Index has risen.
