Euro Nations’ Dominance of EU Would Increase If U.K. Left: Chart

A British exit from the European Union would reinforce the euro area’s dominance of the 28-nation bloc, with non-euro nations’ share of the EU’s output slashed by half. With gross domestic product of $2.99 trillion, the U.K. is by far the largest economy of EU countries outside the single currency area. Without the U.K., Sweden, with GDP of $571 billion, would be the largest non-euro economy, and non-euro states would represent 14 percent of the EU’s output, down from 28 percent.
