MSCI's Surprising Blow to Chinese Stocks

MSCI Inc.’s decision this week not to include mainland Chinese stocks in its global indexes has accelerated a momentum shift in the market. About 3 percent of the Shanghai Composite Index’s members are now flashing buy signals, down from two-thirds at the start of this month, moving average convergence-divergence data show. The benchmark gauge has been trading near the lowest levels since 2014 after tumbling as much as 25 percent this year.
