France Aims to Be First Two-Time Host Winner of Euro Cup: Chart

Allez les Bleus! France is one of just three host nations to win the UEFA European Championship, having captured the title back in 1984 with a 2-0 victory over Spain. The French, who also won the FIFA World Cup as the host nation in 1998, have a chance to repeat history as they kick off the 2016 tournament Friday against Romania in the opening match. Spain (1964) and Italy (1968) are the only other winning host nations since the tournament’s inception in 1960, which was played on French soil. France is ranked No. 17 in the world and is the tournament favorite.
