Third Day of Gains for U.K. Stocks as Shell Gains With Retailers

British equities rose to their highest prices since April amid gains in Royal Dutch Shell Plc and retailers.

Shares of the energy producer climbed 3.7 percent, the most in two months, after it deepened spending cuts and promising increased savings following its purchase of BG Group Plc. Burberry Group Plc and Next Plc added more than 2 percent after a report that showed an improvement in retail sales. Miners erased earlier gains, with Glencore Plc and Anglo American Plc ending the day down at least 2.8 percent.

The FTSE 100 Index climbed 0.2 percent at the close of trading in London, paring an advance of as much as 0.8 percent. The broader FTSE All-Share Index and Ireland’s ISEQ Index also rose.
