In Sweden, the fastest population growth since the 19th century is exacerbating an already serious housing shortage. The number of homes being built is not enough to meet the needs of a population that’s expected to grow from around 9 million to 10 million over 10 years. The shortage has caused prices and debt levels to soar, with Sweden’s house price to income ratio now the second-highest among OECD countries.
