Kenya Says It Arrests Two Suspects With Islamic State Linksby
Kenyan police arrested two people with links to Islamic State suspected of planning terror attacks in the East African nation, the Interior Ministry said.
Investigations into the network linked to IS attack planner Mohamed Abdi Ali led the police to arrest the two on May 24, the ministry said late Wednesday in a statement on its Twitter account.
During the operation at a home in a suburb of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, police recovered materials that were to be used to manufacture an improvised explosive device, it said. The suspects planned to flee to either Syria or Libya after carrying out attacks targeting the public transport system, according to the statement.
