French Treasury Head Bezard’s Move Doesn’t Breach Rules: Le FollGregory Viscusi
Bruno Bezard’s decision to quit the French Treasury and join Cathay Capital Private Equity doesn’t break any conflict-of-interest guidelines, French government spokesman Stephane Le Foll said.
Bezard’s choice was reviewed and cleared by the government’s ethics board, Le Foll said after a cabinet meeting Wednesday.
Le Foll said no names were discussed at the meeting to replace Bezard. The 53-year-old is leaving his post as head of the Treasury after a 28-year career in government. Opposition parties have criticized the move, saying he’ll be bringing his deep knowledge of the French government’s economic management to a job in private finance.
