What Is the Impact of Negative Rates on Aflac?

Aflac Inc., the insurer that counts Japan as its largest market, is prepared for a period of low interest rates in that nation after investing in U.S. bonds and hedging the holdings to the yen, Chief Executive Officer Dan Amos said.

“We had a feeling that interest rates were going to continue to drift down,” Amos said Tuesday in a Bloomberg Television interview. “So we’re well positioned.”
