Canada Home Sales Reach Record High, Up 3.1 Percent in April

Sales of existing homes rose to a record high in April, as gains in Ottawa and Edmonton offset a slower pace in the Vancouver market.

Sales of existing homes rose to 47,031 in April, the Canadian Real Estate Association said Monday, up 3.1 percent from March and up 10.3 percent from a year earlier.

Activity was up in about 70 percent of markets, with the Greater Toronto Area holding steady and the Greater Vancouver area edging lower, CREA reported.
