China Regulator Reprimands 15 Publishers for False Reports: CCTVBloomberg News
China’s media regulator uncovered false reports by 15 local news organizations, state media China Central Television reported Friday, citing the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
Publications that were found to have put out false news included business magazine Caijing, The Paper and Jinan Times, according to the CCTV report. A Caijing journalist’s credentials were revoked after it was discovered that a report on the social decline of villages contained information that was untrue, and online websites that circulated the story without checking its authenticity, including gmw.com and youth.cn, will be penalized, said CCTV.
