Kenyan Lawmakers Pass Anti-Doping Legislation, Daily Nation Says

Kenyan lawmakers on Tuesday approved new legislation against the use of illegal substances in sports, Nairobi-based Daily Nation newspaper reported, citing parliamentary proceedings. President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to assent to the Anti-Doping Bill by May 2, the newspaper reported.

The World Anti-Doping Agency has given Kenya until May 2 to publish the law. The International Association of Athletics Federations had threatened to ban Kenya’s entire track-and-field team from the Olympics in August should the nation, famous for its long-distance runners, fail to comply.
