AirAsia X Beats Global Peers on Optimism Over Prospects: Chart

AirAsia X Bhd. is the biggest gainer this year on the BI Global Airlines Valuation Peers index after being the worst performer among Southeast Asian airlines in the past two years, as investors turned optimistic on its prospects following an earnings turnaround. Malaysia Airlines Bhd.’s announcement Tuesday of Chief Executive Officer Christoph Mueller’s early departure from the airline is also good news for competitors like AirAsia X since the national carrier’s turnaround efforts may stall, according to Mohshin Aziz, an analyst at Malayan Banking Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur. “There is hope for the airline," Mohshin said.
