J Sainsbury Plc’s stock valuation has become a talking point, reportedly enticing a group of investors to consider an offer they later abandoned. The company has the lowest price-earnings ratio of the U.K.’s three main listed grocers, which Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Charles Allen attributes to margins having fallen the least and therefore having less scope for recovery. The purchase of Argos owner Home Retail Group Plc adds to uncertainty, he says.
