Stock analysts as a whole tend to be optimistic, and their consensus 12-month target prices often end up overshooting. So it’s noteworthy when they miss in the other direction. Their predictions a year ago undershot the mark by more than 0.5 percent on just four of 66 country stock benchmarks tracked by Bloomberg, which extrapolates forecast index levels from targets for member companies. Hungary, the biggest outlier, rallied this month on speculation that the country’s debt rating may be raised.
