Can Jack Dorsey Turn Square Around?

Square Inc., up about 25 percent since its initial stock offering in November, releases its first earnings as a public company later Wednesday. Analysts will look for data on payments for small- and medium-sized businesses and whether Square can boost market share in the face of competition from Paypal Holdings Inc., Visa Inc., Apple Pay and banks entering the space. So far, investors are optimistic: Over the past few months, Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey has seen his young company outperform Twitter Inc., the other Internet company he helms.
