China Welcomes Third Province to $1-Trillion Economy Club: Chart

China’s economy of almost $11 trillion is no monolith, with Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shandong provinces each having gross domestic products of about $1 trillion. As stand-alone entities, all would rank among the world’s biggest emerging-market economies, sandwiched between Mexico and Indonesia -- much as California fits into the 10-biggest developed economies by GDP. Shandong probably joined the trillion-dollar club last year, based on Bloomberg exchange-rate calculations using National Bureau of Statistics data.
