Cigarette Makers Will Have Tough Time Topping 2015: Chart

Altria Group Inc. and Reynolds American Inc. accomplished a remarkable feat last year: getting U.S. cigarette sales volume to grow. But the companies will have a tough time repeating that performance. Reynolds fueled its gain by acquiring rival Lorillard Inc. in June. And both companies benefited from a lull in smoking-prevention programs and lower gas prices, which coaxed consumers into spending more on cigarettes.
