South African Power Prices to Rise to Help Eskom Recover Costs

South African power prices will rise more than first planned in the year starting April 1 to help state-owned utility Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. recover costs for its 2014 financial year.

Tariffs for standard customers will increase 9.4 percent from April 1, National Energy Regulator of South Africa Chairman Jacob Modise told reporters in the capital, Pretoria. Nersa had initially allowed 8 percent for the 2016-17 financial year.
