New Yorkers Face Decline in Number of Places to Dine Out: Chart

Diners in New York and Chicago are facing fewer options than a year ago, according to data released Wednesday by NPD Group. The restaurant count in the New York metro area dropped 3 percent from fall 2014 to fall 2015, and in Chicago it declined about 1.3 percent. Meanwhile, eateries are sprouting up farther west, with increases in Los Angeles, Dallas and Houston.
