Qantas Airways Ltd. is surging as Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce pulls off one of the fastest turnarounds in Australian corporate history. Qantas is expected to report Tuesday its first half underlying pretax profit more than doubled, aided by a cost-cutting program and lower fuel prices. Full-year earnings probably scaled a record high while closest domestic competitor Virgin Australia only expects to return to profit.
