Singapore Dollar Beats Loonie for First Time Since 1995: Chart

Singapore’s dollar was stronger than its Canadian counterpart this month for the first time in 21 years.

Canada’s so-called loonie was worth less than 99 Singapore cents this month, the first time at less than parity since March 1995. It’s since regained a premium, trading at S$1.0112. Canada’s economy and currency have been hammered by the global commodities plunge. The Monetary Authority of Singapore steers the local dollar within a trading band.
