Ghana Police to Hand Over Suspect to Burkina Faso Authorities

Ghana authorities will hand over a former member of an elite army unit in Burkina Faso, who is a wanted suspect in that country, a Ghanaian police official said.

Zoure Bourena, 47, was arrested in the town of of Gwolu, Upper West Regional Crime Officer Kwesi Mensah Duku said by phone. Bourena was a member of the presidential guards of ex-President Blaise Compaore, Duku said.

Earlier Tuesday the Ghanaian Times reported that a man it identified as Zurae Ibrahim, 45, is believed to be part of a group that attacked a hotel in Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou, on Jan. 15. Burkinabe authorities had requested he be handed to them, it said.
