  • Police searching for suspects in Geneva, neighboring France

An employee of UBS Group AG and his family were taken hostage in Geneva by robbers late Wednesday and forced to take ransom money from a local branch of the Swiss bank early Thursday morning, news website 20 Minutes reported without citing anyone.

The hostages have all been released, 20 Minutes said. Geneva police spokesman Silvain Guillaume-Gentil confirmed a robbery took place at a bank in the neighborhood of Champel early Thursday. He wouldn’t confirm the report of the hostage taking or the name of the bank.

Robbers fled the site after taking an undisclosed amount of money and police in both Geneva and neighboring France are searching for suspects, Guillaume-Gentil said.

A UBS spokesman declined to comment.
