Le Drian Says France Struck Islamic State Near Mosul Last Night

French warplanes have carried out seven attacks on Islamic State targets so far this week, last night hitting sites around Mosul, Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said. He didn’t say if any of the strikes were in Syria.

Speaking on RMC Radio, Le Drian said he’ll meet next week in Paris with the defense ministers of the U.S., Britain, and Germany to discuss military strategy against Islamic State.

Asked about Russia’s military actions in Syria, Le Drian said the Russian air force continues to bomb “moderate” rebel forces and to sometimes attack Islamic State, “but not enough.”
