Stronger Dollar Signals More Pain for Emerging Markets: Chart

The stronger U.S. dollar continues to sap global growth prospects for emerging-market currencies.

The combined gross domestic product of the so-called BRICS economies -- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- has dropped steadily since the U.S. dollar rally began to take hold. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index climbed about 24% since July 2014 even as BRICS GDP year on year growth rate fell below 4.7% in the 2015 third quarter.
