Kansas City Fed Labor Market Activity Highest Since 2008: Chart

Labor market activity increased from -0.08 in November to 0.04 in December according to the Kansas City Fed. This is the first time the level of activity indicator has been positive – indicating that activity is above its historical average – since June 2008.

The factors which most contributed to the positive reading in the labor market activity index were an increase in firms planning to increase employment; an increase in the percent of firms with positions not able to fill right now and an increase in job leavers.
