Canada's Five-Year Government Bond Yields Fall to Record 0.516%

Canada’s five-year government bond yields fell to a record low as the global benchmark for crude oil fell below $30 per barrel for the first time since 2004 and speculation builds that the central bank will cut interest rates next week.

The five-year yield fell as much as seven basis points, or 0.07 percentage point, to 0.516 percent in Toronto Wednesday, the lowest point in Bloomberg data going back to 1989.
