Enel Green Power to Invest $215 Million in a Wind Farm in Chile

Enel Green Power SpA, the renewable-energy unit of Italy’s largest utility, started construction on a 112-megawatt wind farm in the Antofagasta region of Chile.

Enel will invest $215 million to build the Sierra Gorda facility, the Rome-based company said Monday in a statement. The wind farm is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

Once fully operational, the facility will generate enough energy to meet the power consumption needs of about 130,000 Chilean households.

Enel Green Power currently operates a total of 600 megawatts of wind, solar and hydroelectric installed capacity in Chile.
