Visa Awards CEO Scharf $15.8 Million in Compensation for 2015

Visa Inc. Chief Executive Officer Charlie Scharf was awarded $15.8 million for his work in fiscal 2015, a 27 percent increase from a year earlier.

His compensation for the year ended Sept. 30 includes a $3.31 million bonus, a total of $11.5 million in stock options, performance shares and restricted-stock units, and a $1 million salary, Foster City, California-based Visa said Friday in a regulatory filing. Scharf’s fiscal 2014 pay package totaled $12.5 million.

Visa, the world’s biggest payments network, rose 31 percent in fiscal 2015, the third-best performance in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which slid about 4.5 percent in that 12-month period.

Scharf, 50, joined Visa in November 2012 from JPMorgan Chase & Co. The New York-based lender awarded him $12 million for his work in 2010, when he was CEO of the retail bank. Scharf moved to JPMorgan’s private-equity arm in 2011.
