Obama ‘Congratulated’ Cameron on U.K. Parliament’s Syria Vote

Prime Minister David Cameron spoke to U.S. President Barack Obama after U.K. lawmakers voted to mount airstrikes against Islamic State in Syria.

“President Obama congratulated the prime minister on the outcome of the vote on Syrian airstrikes, noting the U.K. would play an important part in ensuring the ultimate defeat of’’ the terror group, a Downing Street statement released on Sunday said.

In the Dec. 4 call, Cameron and Obama “agreed on the need for progress on the political track and the importance of engaging with Russia and Iran as part of this.”
