China Held 10 Japanese Suspected Spies Since 2012, Kyodo Reports

China has detained at least 10 Japanese citizens during the past three years on suspicion of spying, more than previously thought, Kyodo News reported.

The people held at various times since November 2012 have all been released, the Japanese news service said, citing government officials.

In October, the Mainichi newspaper reported that four Japanese citizens were being held by China on suspicion of espionage. The newspaper didn’t give any details on the reason for the detentions.
