Swedish Migration Agency Considering Housing Refugees on Ships

Swedish Migration Agency is considering using ships and housing platforms to house refugees on water as it struggles to cope with record numbers of asylum seekers.

"In order to fulfill the task of safeguarding asylum rights and to offer housing to asylum seekers, the Migration Agency has decided to seek framework agreements for accommodation on the water," it said in a statement Tuesday.

Offers need to be submitted by Dec. 3, the agency said, adding that the accommodation could open in the first quarter of 2016 or earlier.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
