Belgium Arrests 5 More in Terror Probe, Prosecutor Says

Terror Fears Lockdown Brussels for Third Day

Belgian police made five more arrests on Monday as the dragnet widened to hunt down the mastermind of the Paris murders and a separate cell suspected of planning attacks in Brussels.

The arrests in five raids in Brussels and two in Liege brought to 21 the number of potential suspects being interrogated by police, the federal prosecutor said in an e-mailed statement.

Police also seized 26,000 euros ($27,600) in cash in Sunday’s raids in Brussels, according to the statement. “Objects taken during the raids are in the process of being examined,” it said.

Separately, the prosecutor said a BMW that was pursued on roads heading toward Germany late on Sunday was unrelated to the terror probe.
