CMC Markets Chief Gives $1.5 Million to U.K. `Brexit' Campaign

Peter Cruddas, chief executive officer of spread-betting company CMC Markets Plc, is giving 1 million pounds ($1.5 million) to the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union.

Vote Leave, one of the groups campaigning for exit from the bloc, confirmed the donation, which was reported in The Financial Times newspaper, citing an interview with Cruddas.

Prime Minister David Cameron has promised to hold a referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU by end 2017. Cruddas resigned from his role as co-treasurer of the Conservative Party in 2012.
